MY EXPERINCE DURING ONLINE JOURNALISM CLASS

Online Journalism is a practiced skillbased project  as designed  in the curriculum. The course  exposes us to the  digital  world of journalism  as transformed from the traditional  way.

The lecturer in charge  Dr Tunde Akanni made efforts in making the course  a smooth sail altrough  his encounter  with us, showing  more of his fatherly trait to us in his mode of teaching. 

He started the course by making us to understand the dynamics of the Internet and how the inception of the Internet led to the fallout of the military industrial complex in 1960.

We also looked at various  online journalism  platforms, and how they came to existence,  some historical  angle of the convergence  of technologies  till it effected changes in the media industry  was duely  examined. 
 Efforts were made by the lecturer in charge to reach us more closely and assess us more,  which gave rise to the class grouping. A group  work to be submitted  before  exams  which entails  the group  working  together  to start a blog and keep it active  and keep turning  in stories including  articles  about  our class experience  too. 

I learnt a lot during the cause of this course because the lecturer in charge not only took his time to make sure we understand   every bit of what he taught us but was always  willing to  repeat himself to give us clearer insight  into issues  related  to the course and he even welcomed  out of class approaches and questions  on the course.

A CLASS OF MIXED FEELINGS AND EMOTIONS

By Jubril Zainab  I had no intention of taking the course MAC 317- Online Journalism because it is an elective course,  but the other alternative course I had was a "no go area" for me, so I had no choice than to settle for online journalism. My encounter in the class of MAC 317 has been filled with a lot of mixed feelings and emotions, because sometimes, I felt like I fully understood what is being taught in the course and at other times I felt like I have no idea of what is going on.    The First Class for MAC 317 took place at the old sociology class with less than fifty students in attendance. TEEN MARRIAGE RUINED MY CAREER -LILIAN CHUKWUKA

Teen marriage is the union of two adolescents, ranging in age from 13 to 19, who are joined in marriage.  Just like the case of Lilian, most teen marriages are unplanned. Factors responsible for teen marriage can be traced to poverty, illiteracy, religion, tradition, love, family, peer group, media influence, sexual abuse, and unwanted pregnancy. In November 2016, Nigeria became the 17th country to launch the African union campaign to end teen marriage. The strategy’s vision is to reduce teen marriage by 40% by 2020.
